⚠️ First of all: Iran banknotes cannot be paid for with PayPal. Due to PayPal's policies regarding products of Iranian origin, you will need to choose another available payment method when finalizing your purchase.

Sold exclusively as a collector's item: these are uncirculated numismatic pieces for collectors, not currency for exchange or a means of payment.

What changes when a central bank redesigns a banknote while keeping its two symbols? The 2025 500,000 rials Iran Cheque (Pick 164A, 500,000 rials Iran 2025) is the perfect case to check it. BanknoteNews confirmed it on October 27, 2025: it retains the Imam Reza Shrine and Mount Damavand, but redraws them and debuts the security features of the new generation of Iran Cheques.

You can find it in uncirculated condition in its product page (P164A), and in our set of 10 Iran banknotes it comes alongside the 2018 500,000 rials Iran Cheque banknote (50 tomans).

The obverse: the full facade of the shrine

Where the 2018 version zoomed in on the dome, this one zooms out to show the complex:

  • The grand iwan, the monumental entrance arch, covered in tiles and flanked by galleries of smaller arches.
  • The dome behind the iwan and a tall minaret to the right.
  • Doves in flight in the sky, a motif that is repeated in the watermark.
  • On the left, the value "500000" in red, the name of the bank in calligraphy, and "ایران چک" ("Iran Cheque").
  • The "50" in a yellow box, the figure in tomans that dominates the composition.

The reverse: a larger and whiter Damavand

  • The volcano now occupies almost the entire width, with much more snow on the peak and a hillside engraved with fine lines.
  • The strip of flowers at the base is maintained, but with a denser design.
  • Texts in English, the "500000" in blue, and the "50" in SPARK ink, which changes from gold to green when tilting the banknote.
  • A box with geometric motifs in the right margin, where the watermark is located.
