⚠️ First of all: Iran banknotes cannot be paid for with PayPal. Due to PayPal's policies regarding products of Iranian origin, you will have to choose another of the available payment methods at checkout.
They are sold exclusively as a collectible item: these are uncirculated numismatic pieces for collectors, not currency for exchange or a means of payment.
Ten million. It is the highest figure Iran has ever printed on a single piece of paper, and at the exchange rate on the day of its issue, it barely reached $7.50. The 10,000,000 rials Iran Cheque (Pick 169, 10000000 rials Iran) entered circulation on March 3, 2026, is worth 1,000 tomans, and dedicates its sides to two desert cities: Yazd and Bam.
We sell it uncirculated in its product page (P169), and it is the most valuable piece in our set of 10 Iran banknotes.
The obverse: the Jameh Mosque of Yazd
- The facade, on the right: a towering entrance arch crowned by two very slender twin minarets, some of the tallest in Iran.
- The dome, on the left, with its tile decoration, atop a drum with inscriptions.
- The arcaded galleries that connect both elements at the bottom.
- The value "10000000" in red, the name of the bank, "ایران چک" (Iran Cheque), and the "1000" in a yellow box, next to another "1000" in the watermark.
- Pink and yellow tones, the colors for this denomination.
The mosque dates back to the 14th century, and its tiled portal is the most famous image of Yazd, a mud-brick city whose historic center has been a World Heritage Site since 2017.
The reverse: the Bam Citadel
- Circular towers and mud-brick walls in the foreground, on the left.
- The stepped citadel rising up the hill, with the governor's tower at the very top.
- A sky with a fine pattern, the text in English ("TEN MILLION RIALS"), and the "1000" in SPARK ink at the bottom right.
The Arg-e Bam, in Kerman province, is one of the largest mud-brick constructions in the world: a walled city that thrived on the Silk Road. On December 26, 2003, an earthquake destroyed much of the citadel and killed tens of thousands of people in Bam. UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site in 2004, and it has since been reconstructed using traditional techniques. Featuring it on the highest-value banknote is also a tribute to that reconstruction.
The figure that says it all
In 2008, when the Iran Cheques were created, the highest was 1,000,000 rials and was worth about $37. This ten-million-rial note is worth one-fifth of that. It is the best summary of Iranian inflation that one can keep in an album.
