A shrine on one side and a gas plant on the other: the 2022 Iran Cheque 1,000,000 rials banknote (Pick 166, 1000000 rials Iran) summarizes on a single piece of paper the two things that weigh most heavily in Iran, religion and energy. It is equivalent to 100 toman and began to be issued on September 1, 2022, according to the banknotes.com catalog.

It is available uncirculated and in our set of 10 Iranian banknotes. Buy it here!

The obverse: the shrine of Fatima Masumeh in Qom

Two very tall and slender minarets, with balconies at different heights, frame the scene.
The central iwan, the large entrance arch, and behind it a bulbous dome accompanied by another smaller one to the left. In reality, the main dome is golden.
Arch galleries at the bottom, with the tile decoration of the courtyard.
On the left, the value "1000000" in green, "ایران چک" in red, the signatures, and the "100" in Latin numerals on a light background.
Everything printed in blue, the color of this value.

Fatima Masumeh was the sister of Imam Reza. She died in Qom at the beginning of the 9th century and her tomb turned the city into the country's second center of pilgrimage, after Mashhad, and into the seat of the great Shia seminaries.

The reverse: South Pars, the largest gas field in the world

Distillation towers, chimneys, and tanks drawn in great detail: it is one of the processing plants of the South Pars gas field.
A sky with a fine-line pattern and English text: "IRAN CHEQUE" in red and "ONE MILLION RIALS".
The figure "100" in gold ink on the right.

South Pars is under the waters of the Persian Gulf and is shared by Iran and Qatar (which calls it North Dome). It is the largest natural gas field in the world, and its gas is processed mainly on the coast of Asaluyeh, in the province of Bushehr. Its appearance on a one-million banknote is no coincidence: gas is the country's major source of income.

For your collection

It is a highly sought-after piece in thematic collections of oil, gas, and industry, a topic that is uncommon on banknotes. And it forms a curious "religious" pair with the Iran Cheque 2018 500,000 rials banknote (50 toman), dedicated to the shrine of Fatima Masumeh's brother.

Remember: it is sold as a collector's item and does not accept payment with PayPal. International shipping, original and uncirculated banknotes, and specialized attention for any questions.
