Singapore Banknotes

For years, Singapore issued the highest-denomination banknote in circulation in the world: the 10,000 Singapore dollar note, worth about 7,000 euros. It was withdrawn in 2014 to hinder money laundering, and today it is one of the most expensive and sought-after pieces in Asia.

Named series

The Orchid series from the sixties, featuring orchids; the Bird series from the seventies; the Ship series from the eighties, with vessels that tell the maritime history of the port; and the current Portrait series, featuring Yusof bin Ishak, the first president. Each series is a collection in itself.

Interchangeable with Brunei

Singapore and Brunei have maintained an agreement since 1967 by which their dollars are interchangeable at par. It is one of the few living examples of monetary parity between two independent countries, and it lends itself to a joint collection.
