Obverse: Portrait of historian and academic Bobodjon Gafurov, a leading authority on the history of the Tajik people. Reverse: The "Sino" teahouse in the Isfara district, with a traditional decorated teapot and the national flag of Tajikistan.

This first family of somonis, the currency that replaced the Tajik ruble in 2000 after independence and the civil war of the 1990s, featured both national intellectuals and scenes of daily life on its banknotes, such as these teahouses, which remain a center of Tajik social life. An interesting issue for collectors of post-Soviet Central Asian paper money.
