5 Romanian lei banknote, from the polymer series of the Banca Națională a României, dated 2018/2023, Pick 118k, uncirculated.

Obverse: portrait of composer and violinist George Enescu, the most internationally renowned Romanian musical figure, alongside a carnation. Reverse: the neoclassical facade of the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest, a concert hall opened in 1888 and home to the George Enescu Philharmonic, which gives its name to the international festival held in the Romanian capital.

The banknote connects the composer with the building that now houses the orchestra named after him, a direct link between the portrayed figure and the setting on the reverse. One of the most common denominations in daily use, easily accessible for those starting to collect the Romanian series.
