1 Romanian leu banknote, issued by the Banca Națională a României as part of the polymer series put into circulation since 2005, specimen dated 2018/2025, Pick 117, uncirculated.

Obverse: portrait of the historian, politician and academic Nicolae Iorga, one of the most influential intellectual figures of modern Romania, accompanied by a gentian flower and the translucent security elements characteristic of the polymer substrate. Reverse: the Curtea de Argeș Cathedral, one of the most unique temples of Wallachian religious architecture, next to the eagle that presides over the historical coat of arms of the region.

Romania was the first European country to issue its entire range of banknotes in polymer after the 2005 monetary reform, which replaced the old devalued leu with a new unit at a rate of 1 to 10,000. As the lowest denomination in the series, this specimen is often sought after to complete a collection of all eight denominations in the same condition.
