Obverse: Portrait of Sir Apirana Ngata, Maori politician and leader, alongside the Porourangi meeting house of Waiomatatini and a poutama tukutuku pattern. Reverse: The kokako, an endemic blue-wattled bird, with the Pureora Forest in the background.

Ngata was a key figure in the defense of the Maori language and culture, and this banknote is part of the fifth series of New Zealand banknotes, dedicated to prominent figures in the country. A piece of interest for collectors of both wildlife and historical Maori figures.
