New Zealand $2 note, undated 1981-1985 series, issued by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, Pick 170a, certified PMG Choice About Uncirculated 58 EPQ, exceptional paper quality, nearly uncirculated, with minimal handling.

Obverse: Quarter-length portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, updated from the previous series. Reverse: The rifleman, known in Māori as titipounamu, a small endemic forest bird, alongside red mistletoe flowers (Peraxilla tetrapetala), the same naturalistic motif as in the previous issue.

Although it shares the reverse with the 1977-1981 note, this series debuted a new royal portrait, clearly distinguishing it for collectors focusing on effigy variants. An affordable note to trace the iconographic evolution of the Queen in New Zealand.
