1 peso banknote issued by the Bank of Mexico, dated July 22, 1970, Pick 591, certified by PMG with a grade of 66 EPQ (exceptional paper quality, no restoration or pressing), uncirculated and encapsulated in a sealed holder with its label.

Obverse: reproduction of the Stone of the Sun, the famous Aztec calendar found in the Zocalo of Mexico City in 1790, surrounded by the geometric borders characteristic of this series. Reverse: the Monument to Independence, the golden Angel that Antonio Rivas Mercado and Enrique Alciati erected on Paseo de la Reforma to commemorate the centenary of Mexican independence.

The 1 peso banknote disappeared from circulation after the monetary reform that introduced the new peso in 1993, which makes these examples from the seventies a closing of an era in Mexican numismatics. Finding such a modest and everyday denomination with such a high grade is unusual, and adds to its appeal for those collecting 20th-century Mexican banknotes.
