Collection: Aruba banknotes

The 25 Aruban florin banknote features an engraving of the shoco, a burrowing owl that lives in underground burrows instead of trees and is unique to Aruba. It is one of five endangered species featured in the current series.

From the Antilles to its own currency

Aruba separated from the Netherlands Antilles in 1986 upon obtaining its "status aparte," and has issued its own florin, pegged to the US dollar, ever since. The Centrale Bank van Aruba is the issuing authority.

Endangered flora and fauna

The 2019 series dedicates each denomination to a threatened species: the green sea turtle on the 10, the shoco and the Venezuelan troupial on the 25, the green iguana and an endemic lizard on the 100, and the crested caracara on the 200.
