Collection: Euro banknotes

None of the bridges on the euro banknotes exist. The Austrian designer Robert Kalina invented windows, doors, and bridges in Romanesque, Gothic, or Renaissance styles to avoid having to choose an actual monument from any specific country.

One banknote, eleven languages, and an invented name

On the obverse appears the word "euro" in the Latin, Greek, and Cyrillic alphabets, in addition to the acronyms of the European Central Bank in the languages of the eurozone (BCE, ECB, EZB, EKT...) and the signature of its current president.

One letter for every printing house

The serial number of each banknote begins with a letter that identifies the central bank that authorized its printing: collectors and enthusiasts use it to know, without further clues, which country and printing house each specimen came from, and to complete the series letter by letter.

From the first series to the Europa series

The first euros, in circulation since January 1, 2002, have been gradually withdrawn since the Europa series began in 2013. They remain legal tender, but it is increasingly rare to find them in uncirculated condition: crisp paper, without folds or stains, and with the optically variable ink intact.
