500 peso oro banknote from the Dominican Republic, Central Bank, issued in 2003, Pick 172b, PCGS 65 PPQ certified, uncirculated and with exceptional paper quality.

Obverse: the joint portraits of the poet Salomé Ureña de Henríquez and her son, the essayist Pedro Henríquez Ureña, next to the Central Bank seal and mahogany flowers. Reverse: the Central Bank headquarters building complex in Santo Domingo, also surrounded by mahogany flowers.

Mother and son form one of the few family pairs to share a banknote in Latin American numismatics, both recognized for their contributions to Dominican literature and thought. The peso oro ceased to be issued a few years after this banknote, when in 2010 the currency was officially renamed the Dominican peso, which gives this piece the added interest of belonging to the last years of the "oro" denomination.
