1 colon banknote issued under the law of June 23, 1917, by the Banco Anglo-Costarricense, Pick S121r, certified by PMG with grade 65 EPQ (exceptional paper quality), uncirculated. It is a "remainder" that was left unsigned and never circulated, printed by the American Bank Note Company.

Obverse: portrait of an unidentified man in the center. Reverse: the allegorical figure of Mercury, Roman god of commerce, seated, a common feature in bank banknotes of the time.

As it was never issued, this type of remainder is in exceptional condition despite being over a century old, and the EPQ grade certified by PMG confirms that the paper has not been restored or pressed; a classic piece for collectors of pre-Central Bank Costa Rican private banking.
