1 pound sterling banknote issued by Clydesdale Bank PLC, dated in Glasgow on September 18, 1987, Uncirculated (UNC) and cataloged as Pick 211d, the variant with the signature of Cole Hamilton as Chief Executive.

Obverse: the portrait of Robert the Bruce in a crowned helmet, flanked by thistles, the national flower of Scotland, next to the legend "One Pound Sterling" and the numbering with prefix D/DR. Reverse: a scene from the Battle of Bannockburn (1314), with a knight on horseback covered in a heraldic caparison of rampant lions, making his way through pikemen.

Robert the Bruce, King of Scotland between 1306 and 1329, defeated the English army of Edward II at Bannockburn and secured the independence of the kingdom; he is the great Scottish national hero and the motif of the entire 1 pound series from Clydesdale Bank. The 1987 issue is the penultimate date for this banknote, which the bank ceased issuing after 1988. A piece highly prized by collectors of Scottish banknotes and medieval themes.
