Obverse: fourth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Reverse: a New Zealand fantail (piwakawaka), a small insectivorous bird very popular in the country, next to Clematis paniculata flowers, in the same indigenous fauna and flora scheme as the rest of the series.

This 1 dollar banknote ceased to be issued when it was replaced by a coin in 1991, so the last variants like this one are especially sought after by those who reconstruct the closing of a denomination. An economical way to access the last New Zealand paper series of this denomination.
