Obverse: portrait of José Dionisio de Herrera, the first head of state of independent Honduras, in dark green on a multicolor background. Reverse: the Presidential House of Tegucigalpa, in vertical format.

Herrera's portrait and the view of the Presidential House have been maintained on this denomination throughout several issues with different dates and security measures; this 2003 variant corresponds to one of the last versions on cotton paper, before Honduras introduced polymer for lower denomination banknotes, which makes it interesting for those who compare both materials on the same denomination.
