200 hryvnia banknote (200 гривень) from the National Bank of Ukraine, printed date 2021, uncirculated (UNC), cataloged as Pick 126A.

Obverse: portrait of the writer Lesya Ukrainka, with a collar featuring traditional Ukrainian-inspired embroidery, on a background of pink and blue tones with floral motifs and a floral security element. It includes verses by the author, below which her pseudonym “Українка” appears.

Reverse: the entrance tower of the Lutsk Castle (Lubart’s Castle), with its crenellated top, surrounded by trees and with a flock of storks in flight; the year 2021 appears at the bottom.

Lesya Ukrainka (1871–1913) is one of the great voices of Ukrainian literature: poet, playwright, and cultural activist, author of works such as “The Song of the Forest.” Built in the 14th century in the Volyn region, the Lutsk Castle is one of the country’s most recognizable medieval monuments. The 200 hryvnia banknote was issued in 2019 and is one of the most striking in the current series.
