100 rand banknote from the South African Reserve Bank, 2023 issue of the new series, uncirculated (UNC), cataloged as Pick 151.

Obverse: portrait of Nelson Mandela, with the holographic security ribbon, a small green buffalo with its calf, and geometric patterns inspired by traditional art. Reverse: a Cape buffalo with its calf, with the name of the bank in several of the country's official languages.

Nelson Mandela (1918-2013) was South Africa's first democratically elected president and a Nobel Peace Prize laureate. The series features the "Big Five" of African wildlife on the reverse of each denomination; the Cape buffalo is the featured animal on the 100 rand banknote.
