100 ouguiya banknote from the Central Bank of Mauritania, dated November 28, 2002, uncirculated (UNC), cataloged as Pick 4k.

Obverse: composed in blues, reds, and golds with geometric motifs of traditional Mauritanian inspiration, the denomination in Arabic calligraphy, and a large central white window with the watermark. Reverse: traditional musical instruments on the left and, on the right, a grazing cow in front of an old stone mosque tower.

The ouguiya replaced the CFA franc in 1973, when Mauritania created its own currency, and is divided into five khoums, a peculiarity among the world's currencies. This 2002 series stands out for its vivid colors and its designs of local craftsmanship and life.
