100 ariary banknote from the Central Bank of Madagascar, 2017 issue, uncirculated (UNC), cataloged as Pick 97a.

Obverse: the cathedral of Antananarivo with the city in the background, the map of the island, and birds. Reverse: a Madagascar mantella frog (Mantella) on a rock, with a butterfly.

The ariary replaced the Malagasy franc in 2005 and, along with the ouguiya of Mauritania, is one of the two currencies in the world that are not based on decimal subunits (1 ariary = 5 iraimbilanja). The brightly colored mantella frogs are endemic to Madagascar, an island famous for its unique biodiversity.

“My experience with Iberoamericana Banknotes has been excellent: guaranteed authenticity, personalized advice, and a very wide selection of banknotes from rare countries. I bought a rare Rwandan banknote with a certificate, and it exceeded my expectations.”
