South Arabia 5 Riyals P38b 2017 UNC

Saudi Arabian 5 riyal banknote issued by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA), printed in 2017, uncirculated (UNC), cataloged as Pick 38b.

Obverse: portrait of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud wearing the traditional headdress (ghutra and agal), with oil installations in the background, the denomination in Arabic and a large numeral 5, on a background of geometric patterns in violet tones and a decorative rosette with the 5 on the left.

Reverse: a landscape of hills with a meadow of wildflowers (daisies and pink and purple flowers), the national emblem of the palm tree and two crossed swords, the name of the issuer in English, the denomination "Five Riyals" and the year 2017.

It is the second date of the sixth series of Saudi Arabian banknotes, featuring the portrait of King Salman, who ascended the throne in 2015, and the same design as the 2016 issue (Pick 38a), from which it is distinguished by the year on the reverse. A paper banknote, in horizontal format and soft colors, highly sought after by collectors of Gulf issues.
