Compartir
Do you have old banknotes, coins, or a relative’s collection and can't find a coin dealer in Luarca? I can appraise them for you in Luarca and throughout the Valdés council: I will come to your home for free after seeing some photos via WhatsApp, or I can schedule an appointment for you at my shop in Gijón.

I am Fran, from Iberoamericana Banknotes, a coin dealership in Gijón and an authorized PMG dealer. I explain what you have, piece by piece, before offering you anything.
Old banknotes and coins in Luarca
Luarca, the white town of the Costa Verde, has a long tradition of seafaring and emigration to the Americas. In many homes in Valdés, there are banknotes and coins from that era, along with the usual pesetas.
The items that most frequently appear in the homes of this coastal, maritime area are:
- Banknotes and coins brought back by sailors and emigrants
- Pesetas from the days of the port and the canning industry
- Silver coins from weddings or christenings
Two ways to show me your collection
- I will come to your home, for free and with no obligation. You send me photos via WhatsApp, I will reply in less than 24 hours, and, if it is worth it, I will go to Luarca, Trevías, Otur, or wherever you live, on a day that works for you. I will check everything in front of you, and if we reach an agreement, I will pay you on the spot via bank transfer.
- Or you can come to Gijón. My shop is on Calle Cabrales 77, next to Begoña Park, and I see clients by appointment so I can dedicate all the time necessary to you.
I’ll tell you right away: most of what is found in homes are very common pesetas and coins, and with a few exceptions, only perfect specimens are worth anything. That is why I ask for photos first. Items that are worth showing: 19th and early 20th-century Bank of Spain banknotes, local Civil War banknotes from Asturias, silver and gold coins, and large collections. You can find more details in which peseta banknotes and coins have value.
