I am Fran, from Iberoamericana Banknotes, a coin shop in Gijón and an authorized PMG dealer. I will explain what you have, piece by piece, before offering you anything.

Old banknotes and coins in Taramundi

Taramundi, known for its artisanal knife-making and the Os Teixois ensemble, is a council of tradition and well-kept belongings. If you have old banknotes or coins at home, send me photos.

What appears most often in homes in this mountain and inland area:

  • pesetas kept at home for generations
  • silver coins from fairs and livestock trading
  • banknotes and coins sent by those who emigrated

How we can take a look: at your home or in my shop

  • Or you can come to Gijón. My shop is on Calle Cabrales 77, next to Parque de Begoña, and I work by appointment so I can dedicate all the time you need.
  • I can travel to your home for free. With a few photos via WhatsApp, I can tell you in less than 24 hours if it’s worth me going. If so, I will come to Taramundi, Bres, or Os Teixois, or to your village, check everything in your presence, and pay you by instant transfer if we reach a deal.

I’ll tell you this first: most of what is found in homes are very common pesetas and coins, and with few exceptions, only perfect specimens are worth anything. That is why I ask for photos first. What is definitely worth showing: Bank of Spain banknotes from the 19th and early 20th centuries, local Civil War banknotes from Asturias, silver and gold coins, and large collections. On the spot, via immediate transfer, and I will leave you a document detailing what I am taking and the amount. Nothing leaves your home without being paid for.
