Old banknotes and coins in Ponga
Ponga, with its natural park, is one of the quietest councils in the east. If you have an inherited collection, there is no need to travel down here.
What appears most often in homes in this part of the east:
- inherited silver coins
- banknotes and coins from America, from the indiano houses
- old pesetas in family albums
How we take a look: at your home or at my shop
- Or you come to Gijón. My shop is at Calle Cabrales 77, next to Begoña Park, and I attend by appointment so I can dedicate the time you need.
- I travel to your house for free. With some photos via WhatsApp, I can tell you in less than 24 hours if it's worth it for me to go. If so, I will stop by San Juan de Beleño or Sobrefoz, or your village, review everything in front of you, and pay you by bank transfer on the spot if we reach an agreement.
An honest warning: most of what is kept at home is very common material, and in those cases, only the perfect specimen is worth anything, without folds or stains (look at it with a light from the side, almost brushing the paper, and you will see). What is truly of interest: Bank of Spain banknotes from the 19th and early 20th centuries, local Civil War banknotes in Asturias, silver and gold coins, and complete collections. Is there a coin shop in Ponga?
You have two options: either I come to your house anywhere in the Ponga council for free after seeing photos of what you have, or you come to my shop in Gijón, at Calle Cabrales 77, by appointment.
How much does it cost for you to come to Ponga?
Nothing. The visit to look at old banknotes and coins is free throughout Asturias. I only ask for photos beforehand via WhatsApp, so I don't waste your time if it is common material.
Can I take them to your shop in Gijón?
Yes. I am at Calle Cabrales 77, next to Begoña Park. Write to me on WhatsApp first and I will give you an appointment to assist you calmly.
Which areas of Ponga do you go to?
All of them: San Juan de Beleño and Sobrefoz, and any village in the council.
Do you appraise an inheritance even if we don't want to sell?
Yes. If the family needs to know what is there for distribution or for insurance purposes, I will do the appraisal for you, with no obligation to sell me anything.
